Microfinance Project, ILO Office in Viet Nam is collaborating with the Social Protection Bureau - MoLISA, MicroInsurance Centre (USA) and International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) to organize a workshop on “Microinsurance Implementation in Viet Nam – A workshop for stakeholders” on April 28th, 2008.
Once again, the project sponsored the participation of a Vietnamese delegation in the Boulder Training at the ILO’s International Training Center in Turin (Italy) from July 16 to August 3. The delegation is composed of one expert of the Banking and Financial Department of the Ministry of Finance, the Director of Binh Minh CDC – a MFI and the ILO’s National Project Coordinator.
The Government issued the Decree 28 in March 2005 in order to regulate the operations of the semi-formal microfinance organizations. In this context, microfinance organizations have to transform in order to comply with the law and become licensed. Ultimately, these organizations will be able to extend their outreach and improve their services. However the transformation process is complicated and many microfinance leaders expressed their need to understand better the process, its key steps as well as its implications for their institutions.
The ILO commissioned a training need assessment to better catch the overall demand and supply of microfinance training and to help developing a shared training strategy for the microfinance sector in Viet Nam. This research addresses key recommendations for microfinance stakeholders on how to improve and strengthen a training strategy in order to provide a coordinated and efficient offer of trainings that meet the needs of practitioners from different types of organizations. The objective is to create a sustainable microfinance training market in Viet Nam. The report will be available soon on this website.
